TAB Trick or Treat

While the spooky season is over, why not reminisce about the fun the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) had helping with the annual TAB Trick or Treat event! TAB is Murrysville Community Library’s own board that consists of teenagers living in Murrysville and surrounding areas, all joined in the mission of incorporating teen inclusion and voice in our local library. Through our monthly meetings, we introduce and plan for different summer events, book highlights, and other community holdings. I am the President of TAB, returning for a second term, and it brings me great joy to spread the warmth and importance of the library to my community. As it was my second year helping out for this fun Halloween event, it is still a surprise to see how many children come to participate. The costumes were incredible from the numerous Elsas to the fairies and even ladybugs!

This year, seven TAB members helped out at a variety of stations. Similar to last year, we had two arts and crafts tables. This season we had stations for making spooky bookmarks and coloring in your own candy corns. I manned the story telling station where two picture books were also read, one of which being Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds, a big hit among the children. Who knew carrots could be so daunting? A major hit last year, we brought back the cauldron toss, movie station, and a broom sweep game. Lastly, we introduced a new haunted house setup near the DVDs. We appreciate everyone who came out to participate in this fun event and hope tons of candy, rubber ducks, and Halloween spirit was obtained! It was a great time for everyone, and a great way to start the spooky season off early. We look forward to doing it again.

If you know anyone who would like to join our board, please contact either diyashrishrimal@gmail.com, Kat, the adult staff advisor of TAB, Katherine.Neidig@wlnonline.org, or stop by the library for more information!
